Jorge Jácome received two awards in Hamburg today: the one from the jury of the International competition and the audience of the Internationale KurzFilmFestival Hamburg (IKFF). As for the public of the festival, who voted for a prize cross the German and International Competition, made his coincide with that of the jury and awarded Jorge Jácome the second prize of the evening.
With these two, the film has already 13 distinctions after having premiered at IndieLisboa Festival in May 2017 where it received the New Talent Award for Short Film. Followed by the prizes for best short film at the 25 FPS International Experimental Film and Video Festival in Croatia; the Jury Prize CAMIRA at the Curtocircuito - International Film Festival in Spain; the Promotional Award at the International Short Film Festival Winterthur, Switzerland; the award for Best Short Film at the Verín International Short Film Festival in Spain; the prize of best short film of the International Film Festival of Cartagena de Indias - FICCI, in Colombia; the awards for Best Film of the International Competition and Best Film by the Young Jury at Punto de Vista - International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra, Spain; the Honorable Mention in the Competition of Short Films at the International Film Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico; the main prize of the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival - BIEFF, Romania; the "Irregular Lovers" Prize of the Iconoclastic Competition of the Lovers Film Festival - Torino LGBTQI Vision, in Italy.
Jury's Statement: "What if we had to re-imagine colonisation by reversing the all too familiar scenario of human impact on nature? To a film that, through a daring yet gentle language shows us the double face of beauty as simultaneously auratic and fierceful; to a proposal whose non-linear structure brings forth reflections on displacement, separation and the many layers of friendship as something to hold on to. So while flowers keep growing everywhere, we are happy to award the Hamburg Short Film Award to "Flores" by Jorge Jácome."
