Portugal Film shorts at Kaohsiung Film Festival, in Taiwan [19/10/2016]

Portugal Film was invited to program a session called "Portugal Shorts from Portugal Film Agency" apart from the three films selected for the short film competition. The programme will present the films Batrachian’s Ballad (Leonor TELES), Ascension (Pedro PERALTA), Farewell (Tiago ROSA-ROSSO), Macabre (Jerónimo ROCHA/João Miguel REAL), and Tow Truck Driver (Jorge CRAMEZ).

Portugal Film also represents three of the films in competition, all of them produced by IndieLisboa as part of the collective project Here, in Lisbon which was commissioned to celebrate the Festival's 10th anniversary.

The Kaohsiung Film Festival's Short Film Competition is divided in thematic sessions and the films fall in three different ones. Thus Freud und Friends, by Gabriel Abrantes will be part of the Fantasy Shorts, Excursões, directed by Denis Côté is in the Extreme Shorts, and Marie Losier's L'Oiseau de la Nuit is screened with the Musical Shorts.

All the films in Competition are eligible for the main Kaohsiung Award worth 10,000USD.

Inaugurated in 2001, Kaohsiung Film Festival (KFF) is an important cultural event in Southern Taiwan and one of the country's top three international film festivals known for its contribution to the discovery of potential filmmakers and for promoting powerful, evocative films.

The 16th edition of Kaohsiung Film Festival will run from October 21st to November 6th, 2016 in four main venues in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, including the Kaohsiung Film Archive, Kaohsiung Main Library, in89 Pier-2 Cinema, Kaohsiung Experimental Theater and Taipei Huashan Spot Theater. [19/10/2016]
