Past Perfect by Jorge Jácome officially selected at Berlinale Shorts [14/01/2019]

Berlin International Film Festival announced today the programme of the international short film competition for the 2019 edition, which includes the film Past Perfect, directed by Jorge Jácome, the only Portuguese short film selected.

Past Perfect focuses on the nostalgia of a glorious past, in the experience of a painful present. The director's previous film, Flores, has had an extraordinary career around the biggest international festivals, where it has been awarded several times.

The film is distributed by Portugal Film - International Portuguese Film Agency, which will accompany the director and the film team to the Berlin Festival.

Synopsis:
"Many cities or countries have a distinct malaise. They are places that could be Portugal, so sunk in a painful longing of the past, and where each tension of the present is only the tip of an iceberg that is explained in successive retreats that can go straight until origin of the species, at least. This feeling common to many latitudes is often presented as a diagnosis, a denial of a painful present as opposed to the desire to return to a glorious past." Pedro Penim
