Isadora Neves Marques

Isadora Neves Marques is a director, visual artist, and writer (b. 1984, Lisbon). Her cinema releases include the short fiction films “Becoming Male in the Middle Ages”, which was awarded the Ammodo Tiger Short Award at its premiere in the IFFR - International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2022; “The Bite,” which premiered at TIFF – Wavelengths and NYFF – Projections in 2019 and was awarded at Go Short Nijmegen, Short Waves, Sicilia Queer Film Festival, MixBrasil, and MIEFF; and “Exterminator Seed” which premiered at IndieLisboa in 2017. She also directed the short political documentary “Art and Hurt” (2018). She was the Portuguese Official Representation – Portugal Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia in 2022, and was awarded a Pinchuk Future Generation Art Special Prize and the Present Future Art Prize for her art career. Her films and artworks have be exhibited or screened at art institutions globally, such as Castello di Rivoli (Turin), High Line (New York), Pérez Art Museum of Miami (Miami), CA2M and Museum Reina Sofia (Madrid), CaixaForum (Barcelona), Tate Modern, Serpentine Galleries and Gasworks (London), HOME (Manchester), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Times Museum (Guangzhou), Inside Out Art Museum (Beijing), and Berardo Museum Collection (Lisbon), as well as in biennials like Liverpool Biennial and Gwangju Biennial, among many others. Together with Catarina de Sousa, she founded the film producer Foi Bonita a Festa in 2021. Until 2022 she directed under the name Pedro Neves Marques.
